STRESS FRACTURES

Stress fractures are small cracks or fractures in bones that are typically caused by repetitive stress, overuse, or repetitive loading of the bone over time. Stress fractures occur gradually as a consequence of repetitive impact or forces placed on the bone, as opposed to acute fractures, which are the result of a single traumatic incident. Athletes, runners, and those who engage in high-impact activities frequently experience them. Weight-bearing bones including the tibia (shinbone), metatarsals (foot bones), and fibula (smaller bone in the lower leg) are especially susceptible to stress fractures. At Run Ready, we provide a unique sports physiotherapy model that delivers a professional standard rehabilitation experience. We optimise recovery from all types of injuries via an integrated process of sports physiotherapy and rehab in our state-of-the-art strength and conditioning facility.

BONE STRESS INJURY

The symptoms of a stress fracture include localized pain, tenderness and swelling at the site of the fracture. The pain typically worsens with activity and improves with rest. Unlike acute fractures, stress fractures might not cause severe pain initially but can become more painful over time. Consult with a specialist for treatment as soon as possible. Our friendly and highly experienced team work collaboratively to formulate a training plan to optimise your sporting performance. With a state-of-the-art training facility your rehab will be accelerated, returning you to sport sooner and in better condition.
