ACL INJURY

The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is a ligament located within the knee that provides stability, strength and proprioception. It often gets injured when playing sports that require sprinting and sudden direction changes. ACL injuries can occur through two different primary processes, known as contact or non-contact ACL injuries. Non-contact injuries are caused by stresses on the ligament during pivoting and cutting actions, whereas contact injuries are caused by a direct strike from another player. The majority of ACL injuries happen in basketball, football, skiing, and tennis. Knee swelling, instability, and discomfort are common symptoms. Surgery and physical therapy are also possible treatments. At Run Ready, we provide a unique sports physiotherapy model that delivers a professional standard rehabilitation experience. We optimise recovery from all types of injuries via an integrated process of sports physiotherapy and rehab in our state-of-the-art strength and conditioning facility.
